Joe & Violet Sullivan established Sullivan’s S&S Jewelers in Melbourne during the 1950’s. Coming from the farms of North Carolina, the family believes in planting seeds while cultivating customers. Joe & Violet had 4 children that admired the fine-tuned eye their dad had as a watchmaker. Each child learned the art of jewelry design—creating trademark pieces that keep Sullivan’s clients coming back for more.

Doug Sullivan, the 2nd born of Joe and Violet, was known for his innovative craftsmanship with repair and design. Starting in the 70’s, Doug and his wife, Isabel Sullivan, helped customers convey their jewelry dreams and bring them to life. After Doug suddenly passed away, their daughter, Staci Sullivan, was there to support her mom—serving clients at the Oaks Plaza and then at a freestanding location on 192 for many years.

Since the 90’s, Staci has helped carry on the sentiment with creating symbolic jewelry for clients. Staci’s 3rd generation heritage, coupled with her artist eye has continued the cultivation of lasting client relationships. In 2020, Staci ventured to her current jewelry and design studio in Downtown Melbourne, across from Hotel Melby at 1916 Waverly Place.

Staci is blessed to have the help of her mom Isabel, who offers a wealth of knowledge as a GIA Graduate Gemologist. The mom and daughter duo love serving clients in Downtown Melbourne with its community vibe and artistic flair. The generational team is known for creating sentimental sparkle. Its a winning combination for those who seek out the Sullivan legacy brand.  The strength and determination of the Sullivan family has kept their golden reputation shining bright for generations of customers.

Isabel Sullivan

Boss Mom

As a child, Isabel received a 16 mineral kit for Christmas that triggered her fascination with gemstones. Years later, she married her high school sweetheart, Doug Sullivan, Senior. She was pleasantly re-introduced to gemstones when she started working in the Sullivan family jewelry business.

When Isabel started her jewelry career in the early 1970’s , gemologists were rare and diamond grading standards were in their infancy. She learned to grade, identify, and evaluate diamonds and the kaleidoscope of colored gemstones and received her Graduate Gemologist degree from The Gemological Institute of America in 1980.

Paul Crichton

Custom Jewelry Design & Repairs

Paul became interested in gems and jewelry as a child—he developed his keen eye with quartz crystals that he polished in his Tumbler & Creatively set into Pop Tops for his favorite girls. In the 70’s, Paul began carving waxes and making molds in high school, when free forms were all the rage in the 80’s. Paul managed a jewelry store in Vero Beach and apprenticed as a jeweler. The mall stores hired Paul for several decades when they did their repairs on site.

Paul opened his own store for several years and continued working for the large chain stores. With a chance to move to Hawaii, Paul packed up his shop and headed out to live on the island. Upon his return he was hired back by the mall jewelers as a subcontractor.

Paul started working with Staci in 2014 when the mall chain stores started outsourcing their repairs. Paul and Staci enjoy working together to achieve the creative look clients are going for. Paul has years of experience to support Staci in custom designs and jewelry repairs.
